Formula Renault Historic & Classic

FORMULA RENAULT HISTORIC & CLASSIC TROPHY

For more than twenty years, the Formula Renault Historic & Classic Trophy has mainly brought together two major families of single-seaters: the turbo-engined Formula Renault cars of the 1980s, and the naturally aspirated (“Atmo”) 1721 cc version that followed.
Since 2025, eligibility has been expanded to include Formula Renault cars built and having competed in official races after 31/12/1994 and before 31/12/2009 (in all versions: 1.6L, 2.0L, etc.).

ELIGIBLE CARS

Formula Renault Historic & Classic will include all Formula Renault cars that competed in official competitions before 31/12/2009, according to the following category breakdown:

  • Formula Renault Historic:

All Formula Renault cars built and having competed in official races before 31/12/1994 (in all versions: National, Europe, Turbo, Atmo, etc.).
  • Cat A / Formula Renault Classic:
All Formula Renault cars built and having competed in official races after 31/12/1994 and before 31/12/2009 (in all versions: 1.6L, 2.0L, etc.).
  • Cat B / Invited F4 Classic Formulae:
Generation 1 F4-type single-seaters in their original configuration, compliant with homologations prior to 01/01/2015.
  • Cat C / Invited Formulae:
Single-seaters with performance levels comparable to those of Category A (e.g. Formula Ford 2000, Formula Super V, F3, F3 1600, F3 1000, etc.) may be accepted on an individual basis. Classic F3 2.0L cars will be welcome in Category C / Invited Formulae.

CLASSIFICATIONS & CHAMPIONSHIP

Points will be awarded based on the overall (scratch) classification of each race, with no distinction between divisions or classes.
