HISTORIC TOUR CHARADE - SUNDAY: LORD'S DAY
The Auvergne sequence of the French Championship Historique des Circuits (the Historic Tour) has continued over the course of this Sunday’s twelve races. Under the chequered flag of each of them, the demanding Clermont piste has chosen its «lords» of Charade.

José Beltramelli (winner in Asavé Racing 65 on a TVR 400 Griffith): It was a nice race on a track still a bit slippery (comment at the finish of the C1, ndla). It’s still complicated to drive here with a car like mine. In addition, I came back from far away after breaking a suspension piece in the first minutes of Friday’s free practice. Fortunately, I was able to find a local tour operator who was able to make a custom piece for us during the day!”
François Belle (Formula Ford Historic winner on a Lola T540E): This is yesterday’s revenge! Saturday, I was disappointed to have been surprised as a beginner by Gislain (Genecand). So I was very warm at the start of this second race and this time everything went well. I love Charade, it’s a top track where you don’t have to take the lead for "race road" stories, and that changes everything!"
Dominique Vulliez (Lotus Trophy winner): "It was a bit hot because it pushed hard behind! Since the Val de Vienne I found a very good car. In addition, this mountain circuit allows you to ride well even if you don’t have a super engine».
DRIVERS
Six of them finished their two weekend races on the top step of the podium. Lionel Robert (in the Formula Renault Classic), Laurent Fresnais (Roadster Pro Cup), Franck Quagliozzi (Youngtimers GTI Cup), José Beltramelli (Asavé Racing 65), Dominique Vulliez (Lotus Trophy) and Eric Martin (SportProtosCup) are to blame.
UPDATE AT THE FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIP
In Monoplaces/Protos, the former co-leaders of the French championship, Hugo Carini and David Leone, regained their smiles this Sunday. The first by resuming the victory in Formula Ford Kent, the second by taking a brilliant revenge in F3 Classic the day after a Saturday that will leave him very bad memories. They are back from Charade in the first two places of the championship, ahead of Gislain Genecand, author of two podiums today, and Fred Lajoux. Still undefeated in Formula Renault Classic, Lionel Robert remains in ambush with the advantage of still being able to score two full results at Albi.
On the GT/Tourism side, Philippe Gandini was once again forced to settle for the third step of the podium in the Maxi 1300 Series. The driver of the Mini Jem nevertheless retains his leadership in the championship against José Beltramelli, truly out of competition in Asavé Racing 65 and now a serious contender for the title, and Franck Quagliozzi who won the third place to Fabrice Lefebvre, forced to retire in Race 2 of the Saloon Cars.
The rest and, above all, the final fate of the French championship will be decided in three weeks in Albi.
