HISTORIC TOUR DIJON #1: ALONG THE HISTORY

HISTORIC TOUR DIJON #1: ALONG THE HISTORY

A DAY IN FIGURES
10: the number of races held on Saturday.
322 : the number of drivers participating in the Historic Tour de Dijon, all grids included.
38 : the number of cars present on the most crowded grid : the Formula Ford Kent and Zetec Trophy.
50 : the circuit of Dijon Prenois was inaugurated exactly 50 years ago (May 26th 1972).
6 : the number of female drivers in the race. Namely; Paule Kienert (Cooper S), Victoria Huez (Chevron B54), Pascale Roche (Porsche 996), Lou Bellinato (Mazda MX-5), Angela Grasso (Dallara F3) and Camille Grosjean (Morgan 4/4).
4: the number of drivers classified in the same second at the finish of the Roadster Pro Cup race (Elie Dubelly, Laurent Fresnais, Steeve Hergault and Kevin Balthazar).
88/1000 of a second: the smallest gap of the day between a winner and his immediate following (Gislain Genecand and François Belle in Formula Ford Historic).
1'18''965 : the best time achieved in the race, all platforms combined (Matthieu Châteaux on a Lucchini SP94 in SportProtosCup at an average speed of 173.2 km/h)
90 minutes: the duration of the "200 km Historic Tour" endurance race organised at the end of the day.
THEY SAID
Fabrice Lefebvre (winner of the Saloon Cars Trophy in an Audi Quattro): "This is my first victory of the year. The car worked well, I had a good rhythm, in short everything went perfectly. Julien (Grenet), who is usually in front of me, finished far behind because of his steering problem. My Audi Quattro looks like Michèle Moulon's 1984 Group B, but with a more up-to-date engine: a 20-valve turbocharged 570hp engine.
Pierre-François Rousselot (second in the Asavé Racing 65 in a Cobra Daytona): "José (Beltramelli) is better than me over distance and does better when there are latecomers to overtake. It's normal, compared to me he's a 50 year old kid! With his lighter and more agile TVR, he distances me especially in the two slowest parts of the circuit, whereas I am as good as him in Pouas and the straight line".
Matthieu Châteaux (winner in SportProtosCup with a Lucchini SP94 Alfa) : " I am very happy with this victory because the meeting had started badly with the loss of a bodywork element in free practice. We had to rebuild it and fortunately it held. For Sunday's race 2, we'll just have to think about putting a bit more fuel in the car, as I was starting to lose steam as we approached the finish line".
UPDATE ON THE FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIP
In the French Single Seater/Proto championship, François Belle regained the lead thanks to his second place of the day in Formula Ford Historic and kept a five point lead over Davide Leone, who was in the same position in F3 Classic. However, the order remains very provisional since Hugo Carini, the leader of the championship before Dijon, saw his own Formula Ford Kent race interrupted by a red flag. It will resume and finish on Sunday morning and will perhaps allow the young Frenchman to regain his advantage.
In the French GT/Tourism championship, the good deal of this Saturday is for Philippe Gandini. By taking a new victory in the Maxi 1300 Series, the fifth in five races, the Mini Jem driver ends this day in the lead with ten precious points ahead of Julien Grenet. Relegated to the third place of the Saloon Cars after having already been deprived of the qualifiers following an off-track accident, the latter suffered his first defeat of the season.
In Single Seater/Proto as in GT/Touring, tomorrow will be another day...
