PIERRE GASLY TO DRIVE THE RENAULT RS10 AT THE KENNOL GRAND PRIX DE FRANCE HISTORIQUE 2026
The KENNOL Grand Prix de France Historique 2026 will highlight the meeting of two eras of Formula 1 with the presence of Pierre Gasly, who will drive the legendary 1979 Renault RS10 on Sunday, May 10 at Circuit Paul Ricard.
A leading figure on today’s Formula 1 grid, Pierre Gasly has established himself over the seasons as one of the most talented French drivers of his generation. Winner of the 2020 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, he has stood out through his fighting spirit, consistency, and ability to get the very best out of his car. Having come through the French and then international driver development pathways, he climbed the ranks to secure a lasting place at the highest level of motorsport, now representing the new generation of French talent in F1.
For this event, he will take the wheel of an iconic car: the Renault RS10. Introduced in 1979, this single-seater made history by becoming the first turbocharged Formula 1 car to win a Grand Prix, at the French Grand Prix at the Dijon-Prenois circuit, with Jean-Pierre Jabouille. Long regarded as bold, even risky, the turbo technology developed by Renault would nevertheless go on to revolutionize the discipline and become the standard in the years that followed.
With its turbocharged V6 engine, the RS10 embodies a true technological breakthrough in the history of Formula 1. Its success marked the beginning of the turbo era and symbolizes the spirit of innovation that defines the sport. Seeing it back on track today, entrusted to a driver from the current generation, is a rare moment bringing together heritage, performance, and transmission.
Pierre Gasly’s presence at the wheel of this historic single-seater fully reflects the DNA of the KENNOL Grand Prix de France Historique, which each year celebrates the great moments of motorsport by bringing together exceptional cars and renowned drivers.
The 2026 edition once again promises to bring Formula 1 history back to life through spectacular demonstrations and unique encounters between past and present.
