Dijon Motors Cup | Meeting presentation

DIJON MOTORS CUP (October 3–5)
Formula 1 in the spotlight!
RENÉ ARNOUX READY TO RELIVE HIS GLORY DAYS!
Guest of honor at the twelfth edition of the Dijon Motors Cup, René Arnoux will once again take the wheel of a Formula 1 he knows well! Famous in Burgundy for his legendary battle with Gilles Villeneuve at the 1979 French Grand Prix, he will drive the Canadian’s former Ferrari 312 T during unique demonstration runs on Saturday and Sunday. He will be joined on track by other F1 cars and single-seaters. Off track, René will be delighted to meet fans, both in the paddock and during the Grid Walks.
F1 HEADLINING THE SINGLE-SEATER GRIDS
The Dijon Motors Cup has a tradition of showcasing historic Formula 1 cars. This year will be no exception with the “Formula GP” grid. Among the highlights: the spectacular Jaguar R5 “ex-Mark Webber” driven by Dutchman Klaas Zwart, F1 cars from LRS Formula, and a Toro Rosso STR 08 formerly raced by Jean-Éric Vergne, now driven by Frenchman Patrick Harmuth. Enough to dazzle the crowd with the roar of V8 and V10 Formula 1 engines from decades past.
Alongside the premier F1 class, its younger sisters will also take the stage: Formula 2 and Formula 3. These two grids, part of the Formula Classic Interseries organized by HVM Racing, will battle it out in two double-header races. Both championships are regulars on Europe’s greatest circuits, and their drivers always enjoy their stopover in Burgundy. To keep things fair, each category will feature its own Grid Walk, allowing spectators to get up close to the cars during the starting procedure. Meet the Formula 2 cars (1967–1978) on Saturday at 1:05 p.m., and the Formula 3 cars (pre-1985) on Sunday at 2:15 p.m.
GT & PROTOTYPE GRIDS IN ACTION
Mixing modern and historic grids is part of the Dijon Motors Cup’s DNA, and this twelfth edition will be no exception. The Lotus Cup Europe will head to Burgundy for its season finale with two 25-minute races, where various models of the British marque will compete on track.
And of course, no historic racing weekend of this scale would be complete without an endurance event: the traditional 300 km race will close Saturday’s action. On track, touring cars, GTs, and prototypes built up until 12/31/2009 will battle it out over two hours of racing!
A PADDOCK THAT DOUBLES AS AN EXHIBITION
Off track, the paddock will offer spectators the chance to admire numerous rare models, in addition to the race entries themselves, which will also be accessible. On-site, D&J will showcase 10 exceptional cars, ranging from historic F1 machines to modern icons, including the legendary Aston Martin Valkyrie with its 1,155 horsepower! Some of these F1s will also take to the track alongside René Arnoux during the F1 & Single-Seaters > 2L D&J parades.
