SPRINT SERIES PRE 81 TROPHY

In 2026, the GT/Touring Pre-90 category of the French Historic Circuit Championship will undergo a major transformation with the introduction of two new Sprint Series categories. Following numerous discussions with its drivers, HVM Racing has decided to return to the very essence of historic motor racing. From now on, vehicles will be grouped by era rather than by power, according to a brand new race format. This change will breathe new life into trophies that had lost some of their intensity, while ensuring maximum sporting fairness. The new format will also be more suitable and consistent for Historic Tour spectators.

In line with the Pre 66 trophy, the GT/Touring Pre-90 category of the French Historic Circuit Championship will host a second separate grid called the Sprint Series Pre 81. This field will also be reserved for all saloon cars and GTs with an engine capacity more or less than 2 litres, but this time homologated before 31 December 1980. Previously scattered between the Maxi 1300 Series, Maxi 2L Classic and Racing Over 2L, these cars will now be grouped together on a single grid with a classification organised into four classes: Saloons >2L, Saloons <2L, GT >2L and GT <2L.

ELIGIBLE CARS

The Sprint Series Pre 81 category is open to all saloon cars and GTs with engines larger or smaller than 2 litres, homologated up to 31/12/1980.

RANKINGS & CHAMPIONSHIP

At the end of each race, the top three finishers in the scratch and the top three finishers in each class will be called to the podium. If a class has fewer than three starters, only the winner of that class will be called.

Drivers in the Sprint Series Pre 81 Trophy earn points towards the FFSA French Historic Circuit Championship in the Pre-90 GT/Touring category. 

2026 RACES FORMAT

Meetings: Dijon, Val de Vienne, Charade, Magny-Cours:

Dijon, Val de Vienne & Magny-Cours:

1 qualifying session lasting a maximum of 25 minutes.

2 races lasting a maximum of 25 minutes.

Charade:

2 qualifying sessions lasting a maximum of 20 minutes.

2 races lasting a maximum of 25 minutes.
