HISTORIC TOUR MAGNY-COURS #2: CONFIRMATION DAY

HISTORIC TOUR MAGNY-COURS #2: CONFIRMATION DAY

The 2022 edition of the French Historic Circuit Championship (the Historic Tour) started on Friday and continued at a frenetic pace on Sunday in Nevers Magny-Cours. The appointment is already made for the next episode, in less than three weeks in Lédenon.

A DAY IN FIGURES

14: the number of races contested this Sunday.

38: the number of cars present on the second busiest grid of the day (the Roadster Pro Cup).

5h55: the cumulated duration of the races on the day.

141/1000 of a second: the smallest gap of the day between a winner and his immediate following (Anthony Delhaye and Florent Cazalot in the Lotus Trophy)

1'44''067: the best time achieved in the race, all platforms combined (Stéphane Nguyen on a Lucchini SP94 in SportProtosCup at an average speed of 152.5 km/h)

THEY SAID

Manfredo Rossi Di Montelera (winner of the SportProtosCup): "I'm having a big weekend like I like, being present on three different platforms, which is the maximum. It's not always easy to switch from one car to another, like from a Shelby Mustang to an Osella prototype or an F3".

Axel Castillou (winner of the Roadster Pro Cup): "It was an intense race with a Safety Car that restarted the debates two laps from the finish. Now we'll try to give our best all season long in order to get a good place in the French Championship.

Franck Quagliozzi (winner of the Youngtimers GTI Cup): "For me it's the year of the comeback! I'm here to try and win back the French Championship title. In Youngtimers, we now share our races with the more powerful Racing 81s, which means I have to make even more of an effort in terms of driving".

UPDATE ON THE FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIP

On the evening of the first two days of competition of the Historic Tour 2022 and a double race on each of its multiple platforms, a first assessment is necessary. No less than ten drivers remained unbeaten on the Nevers Magny-Cours track, collecting the 80 points that reward their faultless weekend in the French Historic Circuit Championship.

Among them, François Belle (Lola T540E, 1978), Hugo Carini (Van Diemen RF90, 1990), Frédéric Lajoux (March 793, 1979) and the reigning champion Lionel Robert (Martini MK48, 1986) leave the Nièvre as leaders of the Single Seater/Proto category after having respectively competed in Formula Ford Historic, Formula Ford Kent, F3 and Formula Renault Classic.

In the GT/Touring category, six drivers have the same prerogatives. Julien Grenet (Dodge Viper, 1996), Anthony Delhaye (Lotus Seven, 1963), Franck Quagliozzi (Honda Civic, 1990), Jean-Charles Valinho (Datsun 240Z, 1975), José Beltramelli (TVR 400 Griffith, 1965) and Philippe Gandini (Mini Jem, 1966), who respectively proved to be unbeatable in the Saloon Cars, Lotus Trophy, Youngtimers GTI Cup, Racing 81, Asavé Racing 65 and Maxi 1300 Series.

They will all meet again at Lédenon from 15 to 17 April for the second round of the French Championship.
