DIJON MOTORS CUP 2022 – SUNDAY: KEEP THE SHOW GOING
The second day of racing at the Dijon Motors Cup kept all its promises. Like the previous day, the F1, GP2, F2, F3, Formula Junior and other GTs took over the circuit in turns for the pleasure of an audience also invited to join the track during the Grid Walk. The HVM Racing meeting will celebrate its tenth anniversary in October 2023.

HSCC HISTORIC FORMULA 2 (race 2 / 25 mn)

In two words: The Dijon Motors Cup’s premier venue, the International Historic F2 brings together around 20 of these pre-1979 cars for the closing of the season. The British rider Matthew Wrigley, winner of Race 1 on Saturday, lost the advantage of his pole from the start by being robbed of the lead by yesterday’s runner-up, Thomas Amweg of Switzerland. The latter then settled permanently in the lead ahead of Matthew Wrigley and Matthew Watts, who quickly recovered after having been forced to start from the back of the grid because of his retirement in race 1. Behind the irresistible driver of the Ralt RT1, The two Englishmen end by swapping their positions six laps from the finish. Watts then threw his last forces into battle to try to reach Thomas Amweg, but in vain. 1'9 finally separate them under the chequered flag. Seventh, Frenchman Robert Simac is once again the best placed driver of the 1600 engine F2.

In two words: The MAXX Formula Series chose the Dijon Motors Cup for its last performance. After Saturday’s race and its 100% F1 podium, today’s race starts with a dramatic moment: the abandonment of Klaas Zwart, the new race record holder of the Dijon Prenois circuit since the day before! The beautiful Jaguar R5 «ex Webber» eliminated because of a feeding problem, this is the opportunity for the other two F1 drivers to compete for the victory. Phil Stratford (Benetton B197 ex Berger) is the first to lead the dance, then a duel with Peter Goellner (Sauber C29 ex De la Rosa/Kobayashi) before two successive neutralisations freeze the positions. The race finally restarted for the last two laps, Peter Goellner had to give up, leaving the last word to the American Phil Stratford and his 1997 Benetton.
HISTORIC F3 1000 cc (2 / 25 min run)

In two words: Exciting the day before, the race bringing together the F3 1000 cm3 of the years 1964/1970 will be just as exciting this Sunday. The Englishman Jeremy Timms, winner of his Chevron B15 on Saturday, made a good gap in the first laps to cross the halfway mark with already about fifteen seconds advantage on a turbulent group of six chasing in the middle of the battle. This is where the end of the race is obviously the most uncertain. At the small game of aspiration and after countless changes of positions, the Frenchman François Derossi manages to snatch this second place with a half second advantage over Jason Timms. The other two French riders, Thomas Jamin (March 703) and the faithful Maurice Slotine (Merlyn MK14A), finished sixth and eleventh respectively. After this Burgundy stage, the Historic F3 1000 series will end its season at the end of October in Portimão.
LURANI TROPHY FORMULA JUNIOR (2/25 min race)
Top 5: 1.Rossi (lotus 22), 2.R. Tonetti (Brabham BT6), 3.D'Aubreby (Lotus 22), 4.Smetton (Wainer), 5.Rey (Lola MK5A).
In two words: The Saturday race of the Lurani Trophy finally had a final twist with the downgrade of the winner Patrick D'Aubreby, his Lotus 22 being too light of 2 kg compared to the 400 kg mini imposed. Finally declared winner of this race 1 aboard his own Lotus 22, Manfredo Rossi starts again in today’s race by immediately taking command in front of his compatriot Roberto Tonetti (Brabham BT6). After a short neutralisation, the Italian duo continues on their momentum, closely followed by Patrick D'Aubreby. Then Roberto Tonetti finally reversed the order of the two leading men at the very moment when a run-off caused the final stop of the race two minutes from its scheduled end. The classification established in the previous round as imposed by the rules in this circumstance, Manfredo Rossi recovers the victory. Frenchman Stéphane Rey is again in the top 5, just ahead of Adrian Russell whose Lotus 22 was the delight of a certain Henri Grandsire in 1962!
NKHTGT (2 / 30 min run)
Top 5: 1.Persson (Ford GT40), 2.Douglas (Cobra Daytona), 3.J. Stevens (Lotus Elan), 4.De Waard (Shelby Mustang), 5.Van Maarschalkerwaart (Shelby Mustang).
In two words: After having taken part in the 300 km of Dijon on Saturday, the competitors of the HKHTGT series have a second race this Sunday, for a time reduced to 30 minutes this time. Like the day before, the Kennet Persson Ford GT40 is far too fast for the competition. With a half-minute lead by the middle of the race, the Swedish driver can finish the race with his hand and take another victory ahead of Oliver Douglas' precious Cobra Daytona. A second place that seemed promising to Bob Stevens (Lotus Elan) before he retired three laps from the goal.
P9 CHALLENGE GT3 SERIES SPRINT (races 1 and 2/ 30 min)

In two words: After adding an hour of endurance to their Saturday, the drivers of the German P9 Challenge series went into sprint mode this Sunday for two 30-minute confrontations. In the morning race, Jack Crow (Porsche 911 GT3 R), who started from pole, was immediately the most enterprising and held on to the lead before seeing KcKansy Coach (Lamborghini Huracan GT3), the winner of the day before, fall on him at the end of the race. However, Jack Crow managed to keep 744/1000 seconds of advantage under the chequered flag. The game continues in Race 2 of the afternoon, ending with another short win for Jack Crow. It should be noted that Frenchman Olivier Huez took advantage of this double race to take in hand his new Lola B2 K40; a LMP2 proto that was particularly successful during the 24 hours of Daytona 2004.
