HISTORIC TOUR LEDENON #2 : UNANÎMES !

HISTORIC TOUR LEDENON #2 : UNANÎMES !

The 250 or so drivers who gathered at Lédenon, just outside Nîmes, unanimously appreciated this second stage of the French Historic Circuit Championship (the Historic Tour). With the season well underway, the 2022 journey will continue in May on the Dijon Prenois track.

A DAY IN FIGURES
12 : the number of races on this Sunday.
180 : the number of laps of the circuit covered during the day.
100/1000 of a second : the smallest gap of the day between a winner and his immediate following (Philippe Gandini and Alexandre Faliere in Maxi 1300 Series).
1'25''801 : the best time achieved by a single-seater, all platforms combined (Frédéric Lajoux in a March 793 in F3 Classic at an average speed of 132.4 km/h).
1'28''280 : the best time achieved by a GT/Touring car, all classes combined (Laurent Sabatier in a Porsche 993 GT2 in GT Classic at an average speed of 128.6 km/h).
21°: the temperature at the hottest point of the day.

THEY SAID
Julien Grenet (winner of the Saloon Cars Trophy in a Dodge Viper): "Everything is going well, we are applying ourselves and scoring points in the French championship. Trying to win the title is clearly the objective this year. This is my third season with this 1996 Dodge Viper that we found in the United States before completely reconditioning it.
Lionel Robert (winner of the Formula Renault Classic in a Martini): "My opponent yesterday (Antoine Weil) had a small problem with the gearshift at the beginning of the race, so I took advantage of it to pass him. Then I had to give it my all to maintain the gap after the safety car. My obligations as a coach will prevent me from being present in Dijon, but I will be back with the trophy in Pau and at the GP de France, because we enjoy ourselves in HVM".
Philippe Gandini (winner of the Maxi 1300 Series on a Mini Jem): "It was great, we had a lot of fun with Alex (Faliere), who is an excellent driver. My Jem is a Mini mechanic in a plastic hull, like the Marcos. I'm leading the championship, but the season has only just begun".

THE MEN OF THE WEEKEND
The second meeting of the season ended with a perfect score for Eric Martin (Debora Alfa /SportProtosCup), Franck Julien (Ford Escort RS/Racing 81), Franck Quagliozzi (Honda Civic/Youngtimers GTI Cup), Hugo Carini (Van Diemen/Formule Ford Kent), Davide Leone (March 783/F3 Classic), Philippe Gandini (Mini Jem/Maxi 1300 Series), Olivier Morihain (Chevrolet Corvette/GT Classic), Julien Grenet (Dodge Viper/Saloon Cars). These eight drivers managed to win their two races of the weekend, thus signing a double which takes a particular value on this track known for its selectivity.

UPDATE ON THE FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIP
On the evening of the Historic Tour de Lédenon, the second of the six events of the season, the situation at the top of the French Historic Track Championship is clearly clear. In the Single Seater/Proto category, the returning Hugo Carini (26), well known to the Historic Tour for having won the title in 2016, is now the sole leader. He has four victories in four Formula Ford Kent races to his credit, all of which were achieved by the strength of his talent.
On the other hand, there are three drivers who share the first place in the GT/Tourism category: Julien Grenet and Philippe Gandini from the Ile-de-France and Franck Quagliozzi from Mâconnais (who has already been French champion twice). From Magny-Cours to Lédenon, they too stayed away from any defeat!
